The Webberville School District is partnering with Capitol Internal Medicine and Michigan Rehabilitation Specialists to open a new medical and fitness facility. It will be called the Webberville Community Schools Spartan Center. According to Webberville Superintendent Dr. William Skilling, it will be the first school system in Michigan to offer these services to both students and the community.

"What's happening is hospitals are pulling doctors out of rural communities, so it's left towns like Webberville without any health care. We have the ability more so than other groups to bring everyone together for a common shared vision. And that's what this building encompasses."

The facility, currently under construction, costs about $8 million and is 50,000 square feet. It will include a gym, weight room, basketball and tennis courts, an inside track, and aerobics room. It will also have exam rooms for physical therapy and primary care physicians.

The center is expected to be fully completed by the beginning of July, but medical services will be available starting June 5.
