Early Saturday morning, Jackson police and fire departments were called to investigate a house fire on the city's east side. But by the time they arrived, the home was already engulfed in flames. According to officials, the house on Gorham Street sustained approximately $120,000 worth of damage. And it is now condemned.
Police and fire investigators believe the incident was ignited after a domestic dispute and are calling it arson. They now have a man in custody and are considering him a person of interest. He was arrested on various warrants and is being held in the Jackson County Jail.
Officials say nobody was home during the fire. They hope to wrap up the investigation within the next few days.
