A ripple effect for local automobile parts supplier ASC Inc. as it's in the process of laying off 180 employees.
ASC Inc. made parts for the Chevy SSR. When Lansing's Craft Centre shut its doors last week, it meant the end of the line for ASC Inc. as well.
Plant Manager Daniel Savage is optimistic some of his former employees will be hired by suppliers coming in to build for GM's new Delta Township Plant. Savage says some suppliers have already interviewed and hired people.
ASC Inc. produced 42 parts for the SSR. Employees were idle 33 weeks in 2005 when the Craft Centre shut down.
