Obese Jackson Boy to be Adopted

A judge says a Jackson boy who became dangerously fat and suffered associated ailments under his mother's care will be adopted out, likely to his foster parents.

Jackson County Probate Judge Susan Vandercook said Friday that four-year-old Jerad Ostrander needs permanency.

Vendercook terminated the parental rights of Amanda Redman and Jason Ostrander, whose childhood romance ended with the birth of Jerad.

Sources say Jerad's weight grew as high as 120 pounds.

Assistant prosecutor Kathleen Rezmierski says she'll start the process of severing parental rights to Redman's infant daughter as well.
