Michigan Counties Rally Against War

Now that Saddam Hussein is destroying missiles prohibited by the United Nations, people at Saturday's Michigan peace rallies say there is even less justification for war with Iraq.

Bulldozers destroyed four of its Al Samoud Two missiles Saturday the UN says are banned because they exceed the permitted 90-mile range.

War protestors in mid-Michigan say it's evidence Iraq is disarming.

Thirty-six Michigan counties held anti-war demonstrations including Ingham County. Outside the courthouse in Mason a crowd gathered to support a non-violent solution to the crisis with Iraq.

Participants say they represent thousands of citizens in Michigan want peace.

Also Saturday, there was a smaller crowd of demonstrators who believe military action against Saddam Hussein is necessary and say they want to show their support for the U.S. military.
