A Lansing woman who told police she fell asleep at the wheel before a crash on Interstate 69 that killed three people was sentenced Monday to 11 months in jail.
Shawna McGee, 24, had pleaded no contest to one count of negligent homicide. A no contest plea is not an admission of guilt, but it treated as such for sentencing purposes.
McGee was charged in the Aug. 27 crash in Clinton County's Bath Township, northeast of Lansing. The crash killed Peggy Smith, 56; Jose Herrera, 53; and Herrera's 14-year-old daughter, Adriana Maria.
