The Michigan Civil Service Commission is considering recommendations affect state employee contracts.
The contracts include a modest pay increase, along with an increase in healthcare costs. State employees say healthcare should not be increased because of higher state revenues, but the state argues it needs to be increased to keep up with increasing healthcare and retirement costs.
After a brief recess, the Commission voted to table the collective bargaining issue after a 2-2 tie vote on whether or not to allow an increased cost in healthcare. Their next meeting is Jan. 15.
