Opponents Say EAA Hurts Failing Schools

At a press conference, Wednesday morning, opponents of the Education Achievement Authority said moving more schools into the state-wide district would be wrong.

Board of Education member Michelle Fecteau tells News 10 the EAA has seen a 25 percent drop in enrollment since taking over several Detroit schools, last year. Lansing Eastern High School has long been considered a candidate to be taken over, if the district expands.

Wednesday, the Michigan Senate could vote on a bill that would give the EAA more influence on the state. Watch News 10 at 6 for the latest.
