It took the fire department about half an hour to extinguish a fire at 2212 Saginaw St. in Lansing Saturday morning. No one was home at the time.
Twenty-four firefighters responded to the scene shortly after 9 a.m. One was taken to the hospital with minor injuries but is expected to recover.
Firefighters say it was difficult to locate the fire because of intense smoke. The fire was contained to the rear of the house and the garage, but the front of the house suffered from severe smoke damage.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
