WALKER, Mich. (AP) -- A homebuilder was so inspired by a sermon that he is donating profits from a house he is building in Walker to a Grand Rapids shelter for battered and homeless women.

The Grand Rapids Press reports that Ken Ver Woert is making what he estimated will be a $45,000 donation to Degage Ministries, which runs the shelter. That is what he expects to make from the sale of a three-bedroom ranch house he is building and hopes to sell for $239,900.

Ver Woertis is a Westview Christian Reformed Church member. He says he expects the house to be finished in February 2014. Degage executive director Marge Palmerlee says the donation will support its Women's Center, which is regularly filled with 40 women.
