Food Stamp Benefits To Be Cut if Government Shutdown Drags On

If Congress can't reach a deal and fund the government's operations, families on Food Stamps could lose their benefits.

The State Budget Office says if the congressional standoff continues for another two or three weeks-- Bridge Card holders won't see money added to their accounts.

Michigan relies on federal funding to run the state SNAP program and can't afford to run it without federal help.
