Lawmakers, Federal Employees Frustrated as Shutdown Begins

More than 300 technicians at the Lansing base of the Michigan National Guard packed up their things and headed home as the federal government officially began shutting down, Tuesday.

The shutdown has state lawmakers asking their federal counterparts to find a solution.

In the meantime, State Budget Director John Nixon is scheduled to meet with media to discuss the impact of a shutdown on Michigan.
