Car Crash Causes Gas Leak

During a two-vehicle crash Saturday morning around 12:57 a.m. a car left the road and hit the corner of an ice cream shop on Grand River Avenue and Center street in Lansing's Old Town.

No one was hurt in the crash, and no damage was done to the building but during the crash the car hit a gas meter on the building.

The meter broke, causing a large gas leak.

Homes and buildings in the area were evacuated as Consumer's Energy crews worked on the leak.

Once crews were able to stop the leak residents were able to go back into their homes.

Consumer's Energy is now repairing the meter.
