BENZONIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- A Benzie County sheriff's deputy shot and killed a pit bull that attacked his partner.

The Traverse City Record-Eagle says the shooting happened Friday at a home in Benzonia Township when the deputy's partner was trying to take a suspected drug dealer into custody.

Benzie County Sheriff Ted Schendel says the homeowner had felony warrants for his arrest for the delivery and manufacture of mushrooms and the delivery and manufacture of marijuana.
