If you have any old, unused antibiotics Meijer wants them... A new pilot program to stop the growth of antibiotic resistant supebugs is being launched in Michigan.
The program begins Wednesday January 25.
You are asked to drop off old or unused Penicillin and similar medicines at Meijer pharmacies, in exchange you will receive a gift from the store and educational material from Meijer.
Research shows the repeated, incorrect use of antibiotics contributes to the rise of dangerous, drug-resistant strains of bacteria.
If the program is successful in Michigan, health officials plan to expand it around the country.
Meijer teamed up with the CDC and the Michigan Antibiotic Resistance Reduction Coalition for this campaign.
