The Buick Enclave will roll off the line at the General Motors Delta Township plant in 2007, but for now, it's perched on a pedestal at the auto show in Detroit.
Today, UAW Local 602 members, who'll build that car at Delta, got an up-close look at the concept version. The Enclave is a crossover vehicle, so it's likely to compete with the Acura MDX and the Lexus RX.
The union president, Art Luna, says Buick is after a younger buyer. They'll be proud to build the Enclave and get to work after a difficult year for Lansing's auto industry.
"Brand new plant, brand new, beautiful vehicle. What's not to be excited about? It's almost like a rebirth," Luna says.
The Enclave is due out mid-2007. This year, Delta's autoworkers will build the Saturn Outlook and the GMC Acadia.
