Pneumonia-stricken Gerald Ford is responding to treatment.
The 92-year-old former president remains in a California hospital. It is his second hospitalization in five weeks.
Ford chief of staff Penny Circle says decisions regarding his discharge are made on a day-to-day basis. She says there will be no further information until a statement tomorrow.
She says Ford may go home Thursday.
In mid-December, the nation's oldest living and only unelected president underwent routine tests. He was hospitalized overnight because of what Circle called "a horrible cold."
The Republican from west Michigan has been living in Rancho Mirage since leaving the White House in 1977.
