Father John Byers - We're going to make it affordable and attractive to catholic families.

FATHER JOHN BYERS SAYS THE FIRST STAGE OF THE PLAN WOULD INTEGRATE THE FIVE CITY SCHOOLS... CATHOLIC HIGH, HOLY CROSS, IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY, ST. THERESE AND RESURRECTION.

LORI ZIELENIEWSKI HAS TWO KIDS IN LANSING AREA CATHOLIC SCHOOLS.

Lori - It could really help with enrollment especially in the city of Lansing

Byers - Then we're going to move to the schools in the outlying areas of Lansing

ONCE THE SYSTEM IS SET, THEY WOULD WORK TO STANDARDIZE TUITION, TEACHER SALARIES AND INSTITUTE UNIVORM ACCOUNTING PRACTICES THROUGH THE CITY SCHOOLS.

Byers - Right now finances are handled individually by parishes - we're going to switch that.

Lori - IF they can do that and save money... they'll be able to spend more on the actual education of the kids.

FATHER BYERS SAYS BEST OF ALL, THE SCHOOLS WOULD STOP COMPETING AGAINST ONE ANOTHER.

Byers - We're going to make sure families will be able to get a great education with us for many years to come.
