Gov. Jennifer Granholm has told university presidents that they need to do a better job of convincing a suspicious public that series cuts have already been made in higher education budgets.
The President's Council has hired Marketing Resource Group to help craft that message as the universities take steps to avert even deeper cuts that could produce record high tuition increases later this year.
The 15 presidents are slated to huddle with the governor on Wednesday, their second meeting in as many weeks. No one is has word yet on how much she will cut from higher education.
