As promised, the district would not eliminate any teacher's jobs.
The teachers deferred part of their pay raised before the school year with that promise in mind. The deferral saved close to 400-thousand dollars towards the budget.
The rest of the money would come from budget reductions, staff cuts in non-teaching related areas (including the deputy superintendent), and 13 teaching positions have been taken away (reshuffeling of personnel will prevent any layoffs).
The Board is expected to vote and approve Superintendent Banks' proposal next month.
