A Jackson County inmate accuses sexual misconduct, and shortly after 27-year-old Sheriff Deputy Tyler Jeffreys is fired and charged.

Jackson County Undersheriff Tony Phillips won't say what the allegations are just that the 34-year-old female inmate says it happened in her hospital room early Monday morning. She was being treated for a medical condition at Foote Hospital and Jeffreys was guarding her. The woman's hospital room was just 10 feet away from a nurse’s station.

Jeffreys was arraigned Wednesday morning on one count on Second Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct. It carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.

Jeffreys had been with the Jackson County Sheriff's Department for almost four years and had a clean record.
