Lansing's Plowing Priorities

Chantell Buckner died January 2005 after being hit by a drunk driver while walking in the roadway on Saginaw Highway. Many said she was walking in the road because the unconnected sidewalk next to it was not plowed.

This year, the city of Lansing pledges to "work harder." They say they have a tentative deadline of 24 hours from the time the snow stops falling. They have 13 miles of sidewalk to clear. Everything else is the responsibility of the nearest homeowner or business owner.
