Governor Jennifer Granholm and other state and area leaders express concern over General Motors closings. Lansing's next mayor takes the announcement with optimism.
Flanked by local and regional leaders Granholm expressed concern for the families and communities impacted by the latest plant closings.
State Sen. and Mayor-elect Virg Bernero said he's confident the bad news won't interrupt Lansing's claim to automotive leadership.
He says the new Delta Township Plant will allow the area to build on future success.
Granholm says if the closings are due to outsourcing federal funds may be available for displaced workers to receive educational job retraining.
