In a symbolic changing of the political guard in Lansing, current Mayor David Hollister recapped his legacy and gave his blessing to future Mayor Tony Benavides.
In his state of the city address Hollister said the city is in sound shape.
But, Hollister said that there are many concerns for the future of Michigan’s capital city including budget tightening, keeping the relationship strong with General Motors and helping communities with housing and education.
Benavides plans to add to Hollister’s legacy by making Lansing a more “family friendly city.”
Benavides is set to take the oath of office Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 9 a.m.
