A shot in the arm Wednesday for long stalled plans to expand Michigan State University's College of Human Medicine into West Michigan.
Stakeholders unveiled what they call a "Proof of Concept". It outlines the feasibility of building a four year accredited Medical School in Grand Rapids.
Initial plans had MSU moving the school and students west. The new proposal has the number of medical students admitted increasing with East Lansing's quota staying the same. The growth would be accommodated at the new school in Grand Rapids.
Research would be expanded at both schools and Mid-Michigan medical services would not change.
