A former CIA agent is planning to run as a Democrat for the Eighth Congressional District.
Jim Marcinkowski of Lake Orion would face Republican Congressman Mike Rogers of Brighton in the 2006 general election if he wins the Democratic primary.
The 50-year-old Marcinkowski, deputy city attorney for Royal Oak, has criticized the disclosure of undercover CIA officer Valerie Plame's identity. He said the disclosure is indicative of how the Bush White House is conducting foreign affairs.
Rogers will be tough to beat. At the end of September, he reported having more than $925,000 on hand.
A spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Committee said Mike Rogers has done everything right in his district, politically and legislatively.
