Only hours before the election, both state Sen. Virg Bernero and incumbent Mayor Tony Benavides finish last minute campaigning and prepare for what could be an uncomfortable celebration for both.
The Mayor's campaign headquarters off of Michigan Ave. in downtown Lansing will host what Benavides supporters call a victory celebration. Steps away -- only a concrete wall separates Benavides' party from The Nut House -- That's where Bernero hopes to hold his victory party.
A Benavides spokesperson calls the close locations "interesting," a Bernero spokesperson says it will hopefully expedite the healing process between the two candidates.
Each has accused the other of negative campaigning in the past few days.
