In Ingham and Eaton counties, starting Monday October 24, anyone who wants to get a flu shot can do so. The vaccine is no longer only available to high-risk individuals.
Jackson and Clinton counties will start vaccinating everyone in November, leaving plenty of time to develop immunity.
The amount and availability of vaccine is also expected to be plentiful this year and many stores including Meijer, L & L Food Centers, Kmart and Walgreens will also be holding public flu shot clinics. For a list of these clinics, visit www.findaflushot.com (Some of these clinics may not vaccinate children, so call ahead or talk with your family doctor or the health department.)
Many health departments including Jackson and Ingham Counties are scheduling appointments for flu shots to keep the wait-time limited.
