Six-year-old Andrew enjoys riding his bike in his grandmother's driveway along the rural roads of Watertown Township in Clinton County, a road that's now been blocked off as his quiet neighborhood becomes a crime scene.

"We are investigating a homicide that occurred sometime yesterday," said Lt. Chris Kelenske of the Michigan State Police.

Police say the homicide happened around the 7000 block of West Howe Rd., but police won't say how the incident happened or what time on May 15, but neighbors say they began seeing police cars on their street Thursday evening.

"I would say around 10:00 p.m. that I noticed," said Lori Pierce of Clinton County.

"There was a lot of police cars, police everywhere, it had to have been probably about 9:00 p.m. last night," said Sandy Rueckert of Clinton County.

Police, detectives, and undercover officers are now performing grid searches near the surrounding areas as well as conducting an autopsy. They're following up on leads that they call promising.

"We do have leads that we are following up on," said Kelenske said.

Neighbors who live in the rural area say they're now questioning their sense of safety.

"It makes me nervous because we got kids in the house and stuff and it makes me feel unsafe," Pierce said.

"Devastated; it's kind of scary to think that things like that happen in a good neighborhood," Ruekert said.

Police aren't releasing the name of the victim but say that he is a male and the investigation won't stop until a suspect is found.

"We could end up uncovering two or three more directions that we have to follow up on, so we're going to be out here for as long as it takes," Kelenske said.

Police are now looking for the victim's car which they say is a 2005 dark blue Toyota Highlander with a luggage rack on top, with Michigan license plate BBC0671.
