FLINT, Mich. (AP) -- Police and fire officials say more than a dozen submerged vehicles have popped up in the Flint River.
The empty vehicles started to become visible after water levels were lowered Wednesday for this weekend's annual river cleanup.
Genesee County Sheriff Robert Pickell tells WJRT-TV that most of the vehicles likely were connected to theft, insurance fraud or other crimes.
Pickell says detectives will work to match vehicle identification numbers and other distinguishing characteristics to unsolved local crimes.

who do we blame for this happening?since there was this many cars found,should they not search more?they might solve many crimes and problems wrong with the river.have they lowered waters enough to find all things really there.being a poor state,or poor town,should not all areas check out things as such.more than a dozen could be so many more or just 1 more.how much was left out?all across the states many towns have problems,many things go unnoticed.we need to clean up many areas of many places.why don't we?

are not there junk yards to get rid of cars?so they are stolen,or used in crimes?how many in the river in deeper parts?what else has been gotten rid of down in the deepths of the water?is anyone going to check out the truths behind that?pollution concerns is also a factor.ground water some drink can be an issue.where it flows or goes into?man just can't take care of the earth.the later on effects of such actions.would be nice if a complete clean out could be done.but who will come up with the money for that.not mich gov.they can't even find the money to clean up toxic waste dumps,lack of tax money funding.but where are the jobs for taxes to be collected from to do much for mich?people can't even afford to eat,or many don't have medical insurances.MICH-HIGH CRIME,LACK OF FUNDING NEEDED,UNDERWATER JUNK YARDS,POLLUTED LAKE AND RIVERS,HIGH TAXES ON ITEMS,HUNGRY PEOPLE,GOV THAT CAN'T GET THINGS RIGHT,LACK OF MANY JOBS,COLD WINTERS WITH ROADS GOING UNPLOWED,SO MANY FORECLOSED HOMES FOR SALE.

LOLLLL!!!!! NIIICCEEEEEE. Now why does this not surprise me??? Flint is a TOTAL 'hood! But, I am confused. How can you not see that there are cars in a river?? It isn't like the river is like 50 feet deep, right??? Still...this is totally hilarious! And this is in A YEAR?? They do this cleanup once a year.....that is a lot of cars in a year!

sounds right.happens all over the usa.just gets done when no one is looking.if more would check things out more often maybe more things would be delt with quicker.we just might be surprised at what is in lakes and rivers and any larger bodies of water.not saying how gas in cars and oil pollutes waters.mans way of getting rid of many things?for many reasons.maybe they need to lower waters more.to really do some cleaning.they might find toxic barrels and who knows what.but this is mich and it does need cleaned up in so many ways.how many reasons can people find bad about mich,any ideas?
