Police say Gerardo Garcia drove his truck the wrong way down both Interstate 69 and US-127, before he hit a station wagon with four CMU students inside. They were on their way back to Mount Pleasant after the football game in East Lansing.
Nineteen-year-old Jennifer Stano and 18-year-old Courtney Hernandez were killed. Kathryn Mahanic and Nicholas Mattina, the two other passengers, were treated and released.
Garcia, an employee of Van Atta's Sod Farm, stood before a judge on his 22nd birthday to hear the charges against him. He faces life in prison for the second degree murder charges, and 15 years each for charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, causing death.
