You've heard of company cars, but company bikes?
LifeWays, a mental health provider in Jackson, is asking its employees to ditch the car and take a bike for lunch, meetings and even to and from work.
With help from the Fitness Council of Jackson, LifeWays bought three bicycles and beginning Monday, employees can check them out. More than half of its staff has already expressed interest.
The bikes are part of the Fitness Council's effort to get people in the city to walk or ride bikes for short trips instead of driving cars. We're told LifeWays is the first employer in Jackson to buy bicycles for employees to use. The company has even installed bike racks in the back of the building so employees can lock them up and bring their personal bikes to work too.
