A second case of suspected embezzlement has hit a mid-Michigan United Way chapter.
Shiawassee United Way, headquartered in Owosso, sent a letter to donors Thursday saying a former employee may have stolen $1,800 in 2001-2002.
The charity did not release the suspect's name.
The case is not related to a similar one affecting the East Lansing-based Capital Area United Way.
That agency accuses a former finance chief of embezzling more than $900,000 over the past two years.
An outside audit alerted the Shiawassee County charity to the possible theft there in November. State police are investigating.
No criminal charges have been filed in either case.
