The Renal Care Group in Charlotte will serve up to 72 patients per week and cut down on travel time for many patients. And while some patients' kidneys have failed due to genetic diseases, the majority of cases are due to diabetes and high blood pressure.
The opening of a new clinic is indicative of a growing problem in Michigan- as the incidence of high blood pressure and type II diabetes escalates so will the number of people on dialysis. Spokesperson for the Nation Kidney Foundation says in many cases kidney failure can be prevented or delayed by healthier living.
