According to Jackson County Sheriffs Department, 33-year-old Sharon Ley was driving on Pope Church Road near Springport Saturday evening when she lost control of her vehicle.
The vehicle flipped, throwing a 10-year-old out onto the ground.
The child was pronounced dead at the scene, while Ley and two other passengers escaped with minor injuries.
According to police, the child was not wearing his or her seatbelt.
