1,800 BWL Customers Receive $25 Ice Storm Outage Credit

LANSING, MI - The Lansing Board of Water & Light reports that 1,800 customers have received a $25 credit or more applied to their bills as a result of being without power during last month's ice storm for at least 120 hours (five days). Another 2,400 credit applications have been received and are being processed.

BWL customers who experienced an electric outage for 120 hours (five days) or more due to the December 22 ice storm are eligible for a $25 credit, and an additional $5 per day after that. Eligible customers will have the outage credit applied to their bills.

The credit form can be found at the top of the BWL website (www.lbwl.com) by clicking on the button labeled, "Apply for Catastrophic Storm Outage Credit."

Once an outage credit form is submitted and approved, customers should allow 30 days for the application to be reviewed and the credit applied to their account.

Customers may submit the completed form online, or download the form and mail or email the completed form to the BWL. For customers without Internet access, they can call the Customer Service Center at 517-702-6006 to have the formed mailed, or pick up a form at the Customer Service Center located at 1232 Haco Dr., Lansing. (The customers service center will move on Monday, Feb. 3 to 830 E. Hazel St.) Customers can contact the BWL with any questions regarding the outage credit at 517-702-6006, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
