General Motors chief Rick Wagoner says the company is on track to cut 25,000 manufacturing jobs by 2008.
The automaker announced the goal earlier this year.
The company says it wants its plants operating at 100 percent capacity by that time.
Wagoner says GM expects to announce more details about that plan this year.
He says many of the cuts will happen through attrition but says the process will be a hard one for some workers and their families.
