A contractor drilled through four fiber cables Tuesday morning in front of Jackson Lumen Christi High School, disrupting phone service to thousands.
Phone service, including 911, was out to parts of Branch, Hillsdale, Calhoun, and Jackson Counties. It was disrupted at 11:38 a.m. and restored by 8:30 p.m.
An SBC spokeswoman says a full investigation is underway. Damage estimates are not known.
