Lansing's Primary Election Is Certified

Lansing's primary election is now in the books. The certification took almost two weeks longer than expected because the Ingham County Board of Canvassers called poll workers in to explain certain actions on election night.

But the delayed certification also raised questions about a ballot shortage. City Clerk Debbie Miner has said in the past the shortage was caused by high voter turnout and spoiled ballots. But others say she just wasn't prepared for the election.

Miner has indicated recent actions have been more about her re-election in November than the primary election in August.

Ingham County Commissioner Chris Swope is running against her in the November election.
