Gas prices in Michigan have gone up nearly 20 cents in the past month, and it may be effecting local agencies in Lansing.

The U.S Energy Department says gas prices are expected to climb steadily over the next three months. High priced oil and low supplies from South America are the reasons.

Officials for the Operations and Maintenance Division of Lansing say they don't see the fluctuating prices seen at the pumps. They buy in bulk for their maintenance fleet and budget an extra 15 percent for fuel prices.

Officials say they have seen a slight increase in prices so far. But say it depends on if OPEC continues to produce at its current rate.

They have budgeted for a 10-cent increase in fuel prices for the next fiscal year starting on July 1, 2003.
