Lansing Reacts to Mayor's Exit

Local officials say they are disappointed but not surprised by the announcement on Thursday by Mayor David Hollister to accept a position on Governor-elect Jennifer Granholm's team.

Lansing Schools Superintendent Dr. E. Sharon Banks says Hollister will be greatly missed by all. She says he has always taken an active interest in education.

Lansing Police Chief Mark Alley says Hollister has been a great friend to him and the police department. He says the mayor has been a mentor to all the officers with his innovative thoughts. Alley described Hollister as a man you didn't want to disappoint.

General Motors' spokesperson Kim Carpenter says Hollister was a strong advocate of the workforce in Lansing. She says he was able to build meaningful partnerships with the corporation.
