Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm met Monday with Toyota executives in Japan. The meeting came at the start of a tour of Japan aimed at drawing investment to her state.
Granholm also is scheduled to pitch Michigan at a seminar of 65 Japanese car companies later in the day. It's happening on the sidelines of the 2005 World Expo in central Japan.
The Democratic governor is touting the state's work force and education system.
Michigan officials say about 600 divisions, affiliates, and subsidiaries of Japanese companies operate in Michigan, employing 100,000 people.
