Capital Area United Way Establishes Blue Ribbon Panel

By  |

The Capital Area United Way alleges a former employee embezzled $945,000 from the organization and is continuing to look through financial records in the 1990’s to see if additional funds were taken.

As a result the group has established a blue ribbon panel to investigate their accounting and financial control practices.

Named to the panel are; Mark Hooper, David Brower and Robert Carr.

All have no direct link to the Capital Area United Way.

Officials say they established their investigative panel outside the United Way Board of Directors to insure against bias and any such factors that could affect their judgment.
