A proposed smoking ordinance, is what The City of East Lansing calls a good compromise, and what some in the restaurant industry call the start of an outright ban.
East Lansing is set to review an ordinance Tuesday that would make a non-smoking section in bars and restaurants mandatory from open to close.
While some restaurants are already in compliance, after 9 P.M. others have no designated non-smoking area.
Some say the ordnance is a good way to protect non-smokers, others call it a step toward no smoking at all.
