Travel Michigan says the number of Web surfers looking for travel information in the state jumped in 2002.
The agency says inquiries to Michigan's official web site for tourism rose 53 percent over inquiries in 2001. More than two million Web user sessions were recorded last year at www.michigan.org in 2002.
Michigan travel executive George Zimmermann says about two-thirds of consumers who use the web site do end up visiting the state.
