The homecoming dance for some Grand Blanc High School students ended early when face-to-face only dance rules were enforced.
Principal Jennifer Hammond says about 15 couples were asked to leave Saturday's event.
Hammond says other students also left. She says the new rules were printed on dance tickets, announced in advance over the school's public address system and reiterated as students entered the dance.
In a letter emailed to parents Sunday, Hammond wrote that some student dancing in recent years "has become inappropriate and, at times, downright lewd and overtly sexual."
About 800 of the 1,500 students at the dance left.
Senior Taylor James says the rule went too far. The 17-year-old says she was not asked to leave the dance.
