The Canadian Auto Workers union and the Big Three automakers are getting down to the tough business of hammering out new contracts.

Several dozen negotiators from the CAW and DaimlerChrysler began talks this morning with an hour-long, closed-door meeting.

DaimlerChrysler was the last of the Big Three to start negotiations. General Motors and Ford held meetings earlier this week.

GM says it wants a contract with no increase in labor costs. But the CAW says it doesn't intend to accept any concessions.

Ford isn't saying what it's seeking in the new contract. The automakers' contracts with the union expire in September.
