Voters Split on Mourning Dove Hunt

A recent poll shows that voters are split on whether to restore a ban on mourning dove hunting in Michigan.

About 42 percent of registered voters polled by EPIC MRA in Lansing say they'd vote against or would lean toward voting against a proposal restoring the ban.

About 40 percent would vote for the proposal or would lean toward voting for it, with 18 percent undecided.

The poll of a thousand Michigan voters was conducted June 29 through July 7. It has a margin of error of plus or minus of about three percentage points.

The dove hunting ban issue appears headed for the November 2006 ballot.
