3 teens are behind bars in Mecosta County in connection with a robbery and a gang-ordered hit on a couple.

The suspects are all 17-year-olds from Charlotte.

Alec Cove, Cody Bodo, and Alexa Zimmerman are facing a combined 46-charges including attempted murder. They were arrested in connection with a robbery and shooting Thursday morning in Morley, about 100 miles northwest of Lansing.

Police say five people armed with guns broke into a home, tied up the couple living there, and stole their van. They cut the phone lines and left a fake pipe bomb behind.

Police say the gang had already robbed several businesses and was going to use the van for more heists. Prosecutors tell us the gang leader started to worry the couple could identify them, so he sent three members back to the home to kill them.

Several shots were fired into the home, wounding the owner's wife.

Cove is facing 31-counts including attempted murder and home invasion. Prosecutors are connecting him to dozens of home invasions. Bodo is facing 4 counts including attempted murder. Zimmerman faces 11 counts including home invasion and carrying a dangerous weapon. Police are connecting her to other break-ins as well.

2 other suspects have yet to be charged, or named.

Eaton County's undersheriff says he isn't ready to say if these suspects could be linked to local crimes.

I see that cody plead guilty to 2 counts of witness intimidation, I hope that shows everyone that even the police didnt think that he was as involved as everyone seems to think.

Its NOT the parents fault here people. The fault lies with the bleeding hearts that took away a parent's right to administer REASONABLE disipline!! Kids now adays go crying to social services over the littlest things cause they didn't want to listen and got spanked. My kids are 18, 21 and 22 and you better believe I disiplined them. Still do regardless if it has an effect or not. Give some control back to the parents instead of the kids.

I THINK THAT ALEC ALEXA AND CODY WERE BE WACO AND ALEXA SHOULD HAVE NEVER JOINED.

I knew who Alec,Alexa & Cody are, and I was friends with two of them, which were Alec & cody, I talked to Alec because we used to have team sports together and we used to lift weights together and he used to talk to me. And Cody just asked me out before, they were both really good people and funny to hang out with. it goes to show it does matter who you hangout with because the people you hang out with can change who you are.

I have been going to school with alec since first grade. It's hard for me to wrap my mind around all of this. It makes me want to go and tell them more about God because right now He is the only one who can actually help them. I think that this harder for the families and friends of all these teens. They all made wrong descisions now they are going to have to live with those decisions for the rest of their lives. It sucks that these kids came from our community but we have to live with the fact that we weren't there for them to help them not get into this kind of predicament. I think all that we can do right now is pray for our community, and the friends and family of these victims. The fellow students need to start getting there facts right too. There are all sorts of rumors going around about has happened and whose fault it is. We all just need to get the facts right. But that prolly won't happen until trial dates.

Okay first off. This kids all got what they deserve. No lie. Look at who they are. Look at their names. Good. They all messed up their lives and nobody should feel bad for any of them. Its sick. I dont even want to say I am from Charlotte anymore.

im not personal friends with these kinds but they went to my school and i just cant belive that this happned i agree tho that it isnt the parents fault if my mom told me no i would still do it if i wanted to but then a gain parents can have more of a say in what their KIDS do up untill their 18 but im just not sure and has ANYONE stoped to think that drugs may have been involved!!!!! well i hope the jury or who ever makes the right decision

I agree with you all on most of it, and at this point, can we honestly blame the parents? They are old enough to know right from wrong, if not from their parents then from the televsion. I have to stand up for the parents of these kids. I've done stupid things before and my dad found out and got in trouble before, and he didn't even know about it. It was my decision, and had he known about it, and told me no, I would have done it anyways. How old are the kids, 17 years old? They are pretty much adults now, and we have to think of this situation as that. We can't blame the parents, the kids have to learn that they are responsible for their actions. Which they will with the amount of jail time they will be serving. At 17, there really isn't much that the parents can do or say to keep their kids away from the wrong people, or to allow them to hang out with a 36 year old. Maybe the parents didn't know that they where doing that?

This is a tragic situation, not only for the victims....but for the families of these "suspects". Terrible choices are how this all happened. I feel terrible that friends of these kids have to have their HONESTY tuned to what is the RIGHT thing to do. Because if they stay loyal to their "friends", instead of sharing any information that they may know, then justice will not be served, and more people may become victims. Be smart, make the correct choices, and remember that everyone has to live with consequences so think things through first!!!! Too many people are taking foolish risks, and Society in general is trying hard to protect our communities!

All this bickering over who has what counts...fact is these people are a disgrace to Charlotte, their families and when they committed a crime such as this all should face the attempted murder charges as they knew what was going on when they got in the car and went there...and I agree what was the parents thinking when allowing a teen to hang with a 36 year old evil criminal?????????

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Charlotte on Mar 28, 2008 at 04:17 AM
These kids were real losers and was always into trouble for one thing or another. If anyone really knew them this would not come to a suprise to them. Bodo has spent alot of time in juvie. Hopefully they will get what they deserve. We don't need trash like that in our town. Also how can anyone let their kids hang out with a person who is a lot older then them especially if he has already been in prison for murder????? This town is not what it use to be it is going downhill and fast.

I am so devistated that this happended, Alexa used to be one of my very close friends through middle school. We shared some close times together. I don't understand what came of her in committing these crimes. I think that she needs God by her side right now and i wish i could talk to her about him. But now it's probably too late because i may never see her again

Hey Genius ~ Another news site shows the actual paperwork with FOUR charges against your friend's (that's "ie," not "ei" by the way) son ... speaking of facts. Ignorance should be restrained.
