Protestors Greet Granholm

Gov. Jennifer Granholm started her Inauguration Day off early in the morning at church with an Inaugural Interfaith Prayer Service. But she wasn't greeted outside St. Mary's Cathedral with open arms.

Members of the Stop Granholm Church and Truth Project protested against Granholm's presence in the Catholic Church. They say her support of legalized abortions goes against the church's teachings.

The Diocese of Lansing says by no means does her presence lessen its stance on abortion. The service was just a chance to celebrate and bless the new administration.

A spokesperson for Granholm says she is pleased everyone could participate in the Inauguration in their own way, adding nothing could take away from the celebration. There was no further comment.

Protestors say the service should have been held at the Lansing Center.
